ABOUT GGHF ENVIROCORPS
GGHF EnviroCorps, founded in 2004 by the late Vernon J. Young, a committed community leader dedicated to engaging people in the improvement and care of area parks, trails, and open spaces, promotes environmental awareness and stewardship, and provides opportunities for people to actively engage in the protection of our community’s natural resources.
Vern’s goal was to improve our greater peninsula communities by providing volunteer and sponsorship opportunities on our local roads and in our local parks. He helped create and develop trail systems at McCormick Forest and Harbor Family Park and was involved in the creation of the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation and the Great Peninsula Conservancy. He truly believed in leaving a place better than you found it.
With Vern’s passing in 2014, EnviroCorps became a GGHF program assuring a permanent legacy.
GGHF EnviroCorps envisions a greater peninsula region where people and nature flourish as one.
GGHF EnviroCorps provides opportunities and services that actively connects people to the health of our environment through works to protect, restore and enhance the lands and waters throughout the region.
WE CAN'T DO IT ALONE
GGHF EnviroCorps relies upon the commitment of dedicated volunteers, sponsors and the generosity of our donors. Since 2004, hundreds of youth, business leaders, and community members have joined in our work to improve our environment, restore lands and habitat, and sustain our public parks for future generations to enjoy. We invite you to dig in and volunteer!
