ABOUT US
The former "Active Senior Club", housed in the Cheney Family Branch of the Boys & Girls Club, was reborn as the Gig Harbor Senior Center (GHSC) on May 1, 2019 as a program of the Greater Gig Harbor Foundation (GGHF), when the building was sold to the School District for the new Pioneer Elementary School.

The partnership with GGHF ensured the senior center as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity and enabled a swift transition to operations in its interim location at Peninsula Lutheran Church, Fellowship Hall. Our work on a permanent senior community center continues; stay tuned for exciting news in 2023!
Thanks to the many community partners who came together in 2019, and our amazing volunteers, area businesses and partners since, GHSC expanded its programs and continued serving our community's seniors - even through 16 months during the height of the pandemic, when our physical doors closed.

GHSC provides an integrated system of programs, activities, services and resources to our community’s growing 60 and better population, and their families. We strive to be a dynamic center that benefits people of all ages by protecting the history and heritage of the community and serving as a positive model for future generations.
