GIG HARBOR
BASKET BRIGADE

Founded in 1993, the Gig Harbor Basket Brigade (GHBB) became a program of the Foundation in 2013. In its first year, the Brigade provided full Thanksgiving meals for eight unsuspecting families in need. Every year since, the Basket Brigade has grown to serve an increasing number of area families.
Over the past decade, the GHBB averages about 1,300 packaged and delivered Thanksgiving baskets annually for local families in need, and area military families. Each year, the Basket Brigade engages hundreds of volunteers. In 2020 and 2021, while in the midst of a pandemic, we were able to deliver more than 750 gift cards to local families enabling them to purchase Thanksgiving meal essentials. Outside of the pandemic, the Basket Brigade has brought together more than 450 volunteers during the two-day operation to put baskets together and deliver them.
